Facts and Figures
We believe that access to quality health care is a right we all share — no matter who you are, where you live, the goals you have, or the challenges you’re facing.
At BJC HealthCare, we serve patients in urban, suburban and rural communities through our 14 hospitals and multiple community health locations, providing inpatient and outpatient care, primary care, community health and wellness, workplace health, home health, community mental health, rehabilitation, long-term care and hospice.
As a nonprofit health care organization, BJC is the largest provider of charity care, unreimbursed care and community benefits in Missouri. We provided $872.4 million in community benefit in 2020. That includes $459.1 million in charity care and other financial assistance to patients to ensure medical care, regardless of their ability to pay.
BJC’s patients have access to the brightest minds in the nation thanks to the affiliation between Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis Children’s Hospital, and the renowned Washington University School of Medicine, one of the top medical schools in the country.
