Overview
St. Louis’s first dedicated rehabilitation hospital.
A partnership between BJC HealthCare and Encompass Health, The Rehabilitation Institute supports not only treatment but also major rehabilitative research and education programs. The state-of-the-art hospital, which was designed by patients, physicians and rehabilitation experts, opened in 2001.
The hospital and its medical staff also conduct rehabilitative research and education programs through an affiliation with Washington University School of Medicine. The first free-standing rehabilitation hospital in the metropolitan area features a structured care unit, independent living suites and classrooms for patient and family education.
The Rehabilitation Institute is accredited by The Joint Commission and holds Disease-Specific Care Certification in stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury and amputee rehabilitation as well as wound care. The Rehabilitation Institute also is accredited through the Commission on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) for its comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation program.
