Barnes-Jewish Hospital and its physician partners at Washington University School of Medicine are listed among the nation’s elite medical centers in U.S. News & World Report’s annual list of “America’s Best Hospitals.” Barnes-Jewish Hospital is ranked No. 1 in both Missouri and the metro St. Louis area. It ranked nationally in 11 adult specialties. In addition, Barnes-Jewish is rated as High Performing, the highest available rating, in all twenty Common Care Procedures and Conditions.
U.S. News ranks adult hospitals nationally and regionally based on their performance in both specific specialties (e.g. cardiology), and in certain common procedures and conditions (e.g. joint replacements).
The primary adult teaching hospital of Washington University School of Medicine is the largest hospital in Missouri and the largest private employer in the St. Louis region. Barnes-Jewish Hospital has an 1,800-member medical staff with many who are recognized as "Best Doctors in America." They are supported by residents, interns and fellows, in addition to nurses, technicians and other health care professionals.
Missouri Baptist Medical Center was recognized as "High Performing" in the specialties of geriatrics, pulmonology & lung surgery, and urology. It also is recognized as "High Performing" in fifteen of twenty Common Care Procedures and Conditions.
Missouri Baptist offers a full continuum of medical and surgical services, including heart, cancer, women and infant’s, breast health, gastrointestinal, orthopedic, stroke, therapy, wound and pain management services.
The hospital has a 24-hour adult emergency department and cares for pediatric patients at a separate emergency department in collaboration with St. Louis Children’s Hospital and Washington University physicians.
For 15 consecutive years, U.S. News & World Report has ranked St. Louis Children’s Hospital-Washington University School of Medicine among America’s Best Children’s Hospitals. The publication ranked St. Louis Children’s first in the state of Missouri, and among the top twelve percent, or 23rd, in the nation.
St. Louis Children’s is nationally ranked in eight pediatric specialties evaluated by the report, more than any pediatric hospital in the region.
