Healthcare Informatics (HI)
Healthcare Informatics supports the BJC mission by leading system clinical efforts in analytics, data management, decision support, and quality reporting. We provide the bridge between clinicians and information technology.
Our systems and data are used daily by BJC HealthCare, Washington University Medical Center and supporting agencies. We provide population, organizational, and patient-level data, analysis and decision support. Our work serves a variety of clients, including physicians, pharmacists, nurses, performance improvement specialists, allied health personnel and administrators, and government agencies. Key partners include the BJC/WUSM Epic1 team, the Health System Innovation Lab, and the WUSM Institute for Informatics.
Clinical Decision Support (CDS) team works with the BJC/WUSM Epic1 team to develop and support CDS rules within our enterprise Epic EHR. In addition, this group supports the development of sophisticated CDS tools and alerts that could not be easily run on the Epic platform itself.
Clinical Information Systems (CIS) provides support to clinicians across BJC hospitals as it relates to information technology. This team provides support in navigating applications, understanding access and device trouble shooting, integration of devices within the electronic medical record, testing applications and training of clinicians when necessary. The collaborate with Epic1 team, Information Technology including desktop services, and clinical asset management to assist clinicians with efficient, effective workflows to provide patient care.
Clinical Quality Measurement and Reporting is a team of dedicated measure abstractors which ensures that BJC is meeting regulatory reporting requirements for BJC CMS core measures and Joint Commission requirements. This team also supports Meaningful Use (now Promoting Interoperability) reporting and electronic clinical quality measures, as well as support for the Vizient CDB.
Data Management team provides technical support for data governance, master data management, and data integration. This team is responsible for the development of a BJC “Health Data Core”, which is a consolidated data warehouse for clinical data. As part of the Data Management group, the project management office manages HI capital projects.
Healthcare Analytics teams provides comprehensive analytical products and services to help advance clinical excellence at BJC. The Research and Analysis team provides epidemiologic analyses, evaluations, statistical modeling, and consulting. The Business Intelligence team produces variety of solutions from ad-hoc data pulls to system-wide dashboards and scorecards leveraged by variety of clients and partners.
